Bittersweet began as a simple chord progression and the lyrics came very quickly. Partly a reflection on my own situation at the time but, as is often my way, projected into the more universal theme of love and loss. Playing the rhythm guitar myself, I experimented with a sliding backing vocal effect rather than use keyboards.
